TUTORS NEEDED FOR ELEMENTARY AND JR. HIGH YOUTH

Adults interested in helping tutor youngsters one hour per week are invited to participate in an outreach program coordinated by St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Carmel. Each week, tutors carpool from St. Mark’s to Brightwood Community Center, near 25th St. & Keystone Ave., to provide one-on-one help to youngsters in Kindergarten to Jr. High. The 5:30-6:30 PM tutoring sessions will begin Wednesday, August 27.

 

An orientation & training meeting will be held at the Brightwood Community Center, on Wednesday, August 20 beginning at 5:30 PM. Please call Liz Rix at 846-4912 or email liz@stmarkscarmel.org if you are interested in helping with this worthwhile program.

 

LAWRENCE UMC NEEDS YOUTH CHOIR LEADERS

Lawrence United Methodist Church is looking for two additional volunteer leaders to help direct the youth choir (Joyful Noise). The choir is divided into two groups for rehearsals and an additional volunteer is needed for each group. Group 1 is for age 7 and younger; Group 2 is for age 8 and older. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. beginning September 10. Joyful Noise sings for two services (9:45 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.) on the last Sunday of the month from September through May. Ability to accompany on the piano would be helpful, but not required. ASIAN HELP SERVICES NEEDS ENGLISH TEACHERS

Asian Help Services is looking for a few volunteer English teachers with teaching experience.  Especially welcome are former school teachers or retired school teachers with some understanding of Asian culture, but it is not necessary to know Asian languages.  The classes will meet once or twice a week for just a couple hours.
