Lawrence UMC Summer Kids Camp

Lawrence United Methodist Church provides opportunities to children and youth all year around. The summer kids camps gives parents a safe place for their children during the summer with an emphasis on helping community's youth and parents expand, reinformce and maximize their strengths within the goal of a more united community and stronger family units. One of Metro Ministries' area of focus is leadership development. The children's camp activities and parallel youth leadership training support this goal in an intentional and focused manner.

The camp offers an exciting array of activities for the children and attemps to engage in as many low cost/free activities as possible. The children rotate daily a camper's choice club that focuses on their likes such as sports, art and music. The program provided a safe place for 50 children daily.

Brookside Scholarships Awarded 2018

Members of the former Brookside United Methodist Church have provided opportunities to students that have decided to further their education to receive support through their Legacy endowment established when the church closed in 2008. The scholarship fund was established with the United Methodist Foundation of Indiana to be distributed annually by Metro Ministries to qualified candidates for a scholarship to a post-secondary school.

Felicia Renteria
Scholarship Recipient

Felicia Renteria is a sophomore at Indiana State University.  This is Felicia’s second scholarship from the Brookside legacy. We met Felicia last year as an incoming freshman at Indiana State University.  She is majoring in Psychology and her goal is to own her own business as a therapist or social worker. Felicia has followed up with Lisa Morris, Metro Ministries Executive Director, during the year as she completed her freshman year at Indiana State University expressing how blessed she was to experience the love of our church family.  Her recent email following the announcement she shared, “Thank you so much for the email and opportunity! I'm so thankful for you all!”

Britney Bailey is a 2018 graduate of Pike High School and an incoming freshman at Purdue University. She was referred to us through Outreach Inc. an east side organization whose mission is “Equipping and empowering homeless teens and young adults to achieve stability and life transformation.” Britney’s reaction to our scholarship announcement was, “Wow, thank you all so much! This is such a blessing. I cannot express how thankful I am!”
