Shelbyville Trinity UMC Outreach 2019
Trinity United Methodist Church will begin planning for this year's outreach Vacation Bible School in early June. They anticipate between 125 and 150 youth participants, along with 30 - 40 adult volunteers from the Shelbyville community during the VBS week. The project mission is to reach children and youth to introduce them to the Gospel of Christ. They partner with Shelby County Fairgrounds, with the VBS held under a tent at the fairgrounds and at the Trinity UMC. The program includes Spotted Horse Ministries from Terre Haute, Indiana, that teach nightly lessons about how working with horses reflects Christian principals.

Brookside Scholarships Awarded 2018

Members of the former Brookside United Methodist Church have provided opportunities to students that have decided to further their education to receive support through their Legacy endowment established when the church closed in 2008. The scholarship fund was established with the United Methodist Foundation of Indiana to be distributed annually by Metro Ministries to qualified candidates for a scholarship to a post-secondary school.

Felicia Renteria
Scholarship Recipient

Felicia Renteria is a sophomore at Indiana State University. This is Felicia’s second scholarship from the Brookside legacy. We met Felicia last year as an incoming freshman at Indiana State University. She is majoring in Psychology, and her goal is to own her own business as a therapist or social worker. Felicia has followed up with Lisa Morris, Metro Ministries Executive Director, during the year as she completed her freshman year at Indiana State University. Felicia expressed how blessed she was to experience the love of our church family. Following the annoucement, she shared in her recent email, “Thank you so much for the email and opportunity! I'm so thankful for you all!”

Britney Bailey
Scholarship Recipient

Britney Bailey is a 2018 graduate of Pike High School and an incoming freshman at Purdue University. She was referred to us through Outreach Inc., an east-side organization whose mission is “Equipping and empowering homeless teens and young adults to achieve stability and life transformation.” Britney’s reaction to our scholarship announcement was, “Wow, thank you all so much! This is such a blessing. I cannot express how thankful I am!”
