Who We Are
R Branson
Ronald O. Branson
Board Member

Ron Branson grew up in Muncie, Indiana, where he had the opportunity to learn the machinist trade. During an economic downturn, he joined the US Air Force where he served as an electronics technician for 8 years until he became a custodial single parent. Combining both of his skilled trades, he began working in automated manufacturing first as a technician, then an instructor, and finally as an International Project Manager. The allure of the dot com bubble convinced him to start his own business designing Internet pages for small businesses, until changes in Internet design technology necessitated his return to manufacturing where he worked for a Fortune 500 company as the Director of both Safety and Environmental Compliance.

When Ron began discerning his call to ministry, he spent a number of years as an Adjunct Instructor for Oakland City University where he taught inside the Indiana Women’s Prison and then served as Oakland City’s Program Director inside the New Castle Correctional Facility. While attending Seminary, he simultaneously served as pastor to three churches in southern Indiana until being appointed to Aldersgate UMC in the southwest corner of Marion County. After graduation from Seminary he was appointed to Calvary UMC in Brownsburg until being appointed as Sr. Pastor serving Grace, New Community, and Hope House in Hartford City.

Ron’s love of Metro Ministries grew out of his time serving in Marion and Hendricks Counties as he found in them a resource for connecting the needs of congregations with the needs of people living in Central District.

Lastly, Ron loves Indiana's Covered Bridges and is considered one of the foremost historians in this subject, and has cataloged information on more than 700 covered bridges that once dotted the landscape of our State!
