Dana Hershey
Board Member

Dana Hershey, a native of Illinois, has lived in Indiana for 38 years, moving to Avon in 2017. Her husband Brian is a retired Boy Scout professional. Their son, Alex, is pastor of The Branches Community Church in Plainfield, and their daughter, Katy Beringer,  is a stay-at- home-mom, recently returned from serving in the mission field in Cambodia.

Dana is a retired public-school teacher, who has taught pre-school through adult education, with most of her years spent in 6th grade Language Arts. The last seven years of her career, she was Director of the English Learners Program for Twin Lakes School Corporation in Monticello. Since retiring, she loves to knit and quilt in her free time, as well as read and travel when possible. In the past she has also done community theater, with her favorite roles being Yenta from “Fiddler on the Roof” and Miss Hannigan from “Annie”!

She is a life-long United Methodist, has served on many church committees at the local level, as well as teaching Sunday School and Bible studies. Brian and she have lead youth mission trips to Redbird Missionary Conference and Birmingham, AL, for Habitat for Humanity; and she has helped lead a work trip to Honduras. In the community, she assisted with the Twin Lakes Families’ Food Pantry and served on the Monticello Union Twp. Library Board. Dana is in her third year of service on Metro Ministries, Inc.'s Board of Directors.
