Who We Are
Andrea 255 x 340
Andrea Leadford
Board Member

Andrea believes in the importance of family development and strengthening families in order to improve communities and neighborhoods. She firmly believes everyone needs support at some point in their lives, and it takes partnership coupled with information to help folks get ahead.

She knows what it's like to live in poverty, having moved from middle class to poverty when she was 12 years old due to her parents' divorce. Seeing her mom feel guilt and shame for not having enough money to pay the bills made Andrea determined to serve people in poverty. This experience helped her develop a passion to connect others to resources that can help them, not just get by, but get ahead.

She loves helping others take steps to improve their situation. Andrea has worked in family development for over 15 years, currently serving as Director of Mobilization and Outreach at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. She is a lifetime certified Bridges out of Poverty trainer who understands economic class, the importance of social capital and the causes of poverty

Andrea looks to a favorite quote from Barack Obama to answer what she believes she brings to Metro Ministries: “Change only happens when ordinary people get involved, get engage, and come together to demand it.” We welcome Andrea to Metro Ministries Board in 2020!
